Organic standards:

 

Minimum standards for organic production and processing  are set by the European Union and interpreted for the UK by the Advisory Committee on Organic Standards (ACOS, formerly UKROFS), which is part of DEFRA. A number of Certification Bodies are licensed by the UK government to enforce the organic standards at farm level. They also license other elements of the food production chain, including processors and abattoirs.
