Abstract:

This report on organic poultry production includes the following sections: Definitions, production standards and legislation; Organic production systems and key management issues (breeds, housing, nutrition, animal health, slaughtering and processing, production sytems); Marketing (background, the poultry industry, pricing, promotion, institutional factors, future development); and Business plans (financial and physical performance assumptions, financial results, discussion). There is a bibliography, contact addresses and gross margin sensitivity analyses.
