Organic research priorities: consultations
Welsh consultation 2001
In 2001, Organic Centre Wales (OCW) was
asked to prepare a paper for UKROFS on the
organic industry’s priorities for organic farming research in Wales. A
request was sent out to producers, processors, researchers and others to
contribute their views on the future direction of organic research, and
the paper was sent to UKROFS.
DEFRA held an internal meeting on 27th July 2001 to determine the future direction
of the organic research programme, and the paper was modified as a result.
It was then agreed by the Organic Strategy Group on 4th September
2001.

on organic farming research and development priorities in Wales
Welsh consultation 2004
Following on from the above consultations and reviews OCW has
undertaken a further exercise to:
-
Review the full range of UK
organic R&D projects that have relevance to Welsh organic
producers.
-
Review the 2001 Welsh
priorities to consider the extent to which they have been addressed
and to update the priorities where appropriate.

UK consultation
Organic Centre Wales was also asked in 2001 to carry out a similar survey
for research priorities covering the whole of the UK. The consultation paper
was then published by DEFRA who will use the document in considering future
priorities. To see the paper, please click on the link below.
